The first day that I arrived in Greece was actually in Athens. I remembered arriving at the foot of the acropolis along with visiting a museum related to its history. I was really happy to see Athenes from up here and despite its issues, I was proud to finally visit it. The only sad thing about all this is that we only spent one day in the City but it was important that we followed the planned trip.
My mum and I arrived in Crete the day after as Dad awited for us. He booked the hotel for our stay. It was a nice hotel but I remember that it was located on a hilly rockside. It would be considered boring for some but it was a place above a pizzaria next to the beach. My parents and I would eat our diners while looking at the sea in the sunset. A beautiful memory of us together. My favourite meal was the Hawaien Pizza.
The first place we visited in Crete was the King Minos Palace or at least the ruins of it. It seemed to be small at first glance but when you investiguate it, you realise that it was bigger than that in its prince as they have been signs of multiple tunnels surrounding the taller structures linked to them. I heard a year later that there was ruins underground that is connected to the Minothaur's Labyrinth. Hopefully, I will come back in Crete to visit this place since King Minos was very involved in this as his wife was the mother of the Minothaur. The father was the bull that Minos liked... Let that sink in.
After that visit, We visited a museum that had information on the history of Crete along with its mythology. Considering that it was an island, Crete was dependant on trade to thrive. From my observation, it was considered an advanced civilisation compared to the others in Ancient Greece. Though, I do admit that I feel curious on how the other countries of Greece felt about Crete since the Country was the one that boasted to be the one who had been hidding Zeus when he was an infant until he gained enough strength to free his siblings and battle his father, Chronos. Then again, most of their countries were most likely busy boasting about the demigods that were born in their countries due to the contribution of the same King of Gods.
We also visited some of the temples linked to Zeus, Hephaestus along with a theater of Dionysus. I was happy in this trip and we spent a good time exploring it. We had to go in the end, but I wish that we could visit it once again, one day. Of course, I do admit that I ambitious in wanting to visit the other greek cities like in Macedonia, Sparta along with the towns linked to Athenes. I wonder if Mum and Dad would happy to do this again...
